This is the email you will see when you apply!
To: Applicant to Howard University College of Medicine

From Judith Walk, Director of Admissions

Re: Confirmation of Your AMCAS Application and Instructions-

Please print out this email and save it, as it contains information that will help steer you through the application process.

We have received notification that you have applied, through the AMCAS system, to Howard University College of Medicine. Thank you for applying for admission to the Class of 2011.

We invite you to submit the following documentation in support of your application.

o Required - Secondary application: Please download the secondary application by visiting http://www.howard.edu/academics/schools.asp. Click on “Medicine” and you will see the secondary application (PDF) at the bottom of the page.

o Required – Secondary application fee: You must submit the fee of $45.00 by MONEY ORDER OR CASHIER’S CHECK only. Personal checks will be immediately returned, along with your secondary application. Howard University will not waive the application fee.

o Required – Letters of Recommendation: You may submit either (1) a health professions committee letter of evaluation or two (2) letters of evaluation from science professors.

We will email you when we receive this information. Please make sure that your spam filters and pop-up blockers are disabled. We will be doing most correspondence via email and we want to make sure you receive pertinent information. Please check your “junk email” folders weekly to ensure you get all correspondence.

Your file is complete when we have received:
1. Your official AMCAS application (You must confirm with AMCAS that your application is complete and that has been sent to your designated schools.)
2. Your secondary application form.
3. Your secondary application fee (Money orders or cashier’s orders only)
4. (2) Letters of recommendation from science professors or (1) premedical advisory
committee.
Your application will not go to the admissions committee until your file is complete.

We will review application materials and invite applicants for interview via email. Applicants will be accepted or placed on an alternate list on a rolling-basis – our process will continue until the class is filled. Most letters of rejection will be sent out during the summer.

If you have not received an email confirming that we have received your secondary and fee or recommendations within three weeks, you should call this office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. EST. We will be moving to new offices in September and there may some interruption while we make the shift.

We will be sending out interim correspondence to all applicants in January to let you know the status of the admissions season.

Your interest in Howard is most appreciated. We appreciate your patience as we review your application.
